Balochistan
as a whole and District Chaghi in particular has been bestowed
by the nature with natural resources. Chaghi is also called
‘the museum of minerals.’ Large deposits of copper, sulphur,
iron, granite, gold, and onyx marble are available that are
being explored by foreign organizations using skilled manpower
from outside Balochistan. This is only because there is no
technical education institute in Chaghi could have been involved
and could have been more beneficial as compared to the people
coming from outside. This scenario has created sense of
deprivation among the people besides increasing rate of poverty,
involving young generation of the area in poppy cultivation,
smuggling and drug abuse and other heinous criminal activities,
which is further aggravating the law and order situation and
declining economic activity.

Analyzing
the aggravating plight, the president of SFSH, who is also a native
of Chaghi district, has offered to donate 48,800 (forty thousand
eight hundred) square yards of land for the mineralogical
Science and Technology Institute to involve the deteriorating
populace in educational and healthy income generation activities
and refraining from unwanted criminal acts.

The local population
having been educated in mineralogical science could be more
useful to locate, explore and extract minerals as compared to
the persons coming from other parts of the country or abroad.
Besides earning their livelihood and alleviating poverty, they
would be a source to earn foreign exchange for the country. This
would be a three pronged activity - the local population becomes
educated, local population refrained from involving poppy
cultivation and drug abuse, and alleviation of poverty from the
area, be a major cause for evil and terrorist activities.
