Drug
Abuse and addiction poppy is a natural growth in Balochistan and
North West frontier regions
particularly in the areas aligning with Iran and Afghanistan
specially the desert zone of Balochistan comprising Chaghi,
Kharan and Panjgur districts. Taking benefit of poverty, some
people engaged in poppy cultivation or manufacture of drugs.
During the course of their working as such, they start abusing
by products like opium, heroin, charas, etc and become
addict.
Beside
imparting preventive education and rehabilitative services, the
SFSH has planned to establish chain of technical and vocational
centers allied with literacy to provide skill training, provide
micro credit for the development of small scale infrastructure
for self- employment and engage them in income generation
activities, which would help in poverty alleviation and to
refraining them from drug
abuse & addiction.
